“A true honour”: Bermuda-bound Dean Fairhurst (Photograph supplied)

Dean Fairhurst, the lead singer of the UK group Slydigs, is to play an acoustic set for audiences at the America’s Cup Village after the close of racing on Monday.

Fairhurst, who recently completed a tour of North America and Europe supporting the Who, is to showcase “tracks that have influenced him over the years”, according to event authorities.

“To play such a prestigious event is a true honour and I’ve very much looking forward to playing on the beautiful island of Bermuda,” Fairhurst said.

Spectators at the village have been treated to a host of entertainers over the course of the festivities at the West End.

Fairhurst’s influences are described as ranging from The Beatles to The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan to Johnny Cash. Tickets are available now from $20 via www.americascup.com/tickets.

Before the latest America’s Cup Concert Series performance, audiences on Monday will witness the resumption of the battle on the Great Sound, with Oracle Team USA and Emirates Team New Zealand continuing their competition in the first-to-seven-points America’s Cup Match, presented by Louis Vuitton.
