Chance to get to know Team BDA

Wollmann will be among the Team BDA sailors featured in the films

Team BDA are offering the public a chance to get to know them next week.

Bermuda’s representatives at the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup are the subject of two short films that will debut in a free public screening on Monday. The team started almost two years to prepare for the Youth America’s Cup in June.

The public are invited to the free screening and Meet and Greet at Liberty Theatre on Monday from 5.30 to 7pm.

The event will showcase the whole team of young Bermudians, but highlights five torchbearers as they approach potentially history-making moments.

The event will include features on Cecilia Wollmann, Mustafa Ingham, Shomari Warner and Dimitri Stevens. A fifth sailor, Emily Nagel, left the team to take a job with SoftBank Team Japan — living the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup promise of providing a pathway from the youth ranks of the sport to the elite ranks.

Team BDA have been training full time since January.

This past week, the team trained in the Great Sound with Oracle Team USA and Next Generation USA, the American entry in the Youth America’s Cup.

Laura Cutler, the Team BDA manager said: “This is a whole team effort and we are excited to showcase these inspiring young Bermudians who are representing Bermuda this summer.
