The Bermuda Hospitals Board last night confirmed its chief of staff Dr Donald Thomas has been put on administrative leave.

In a short statement, a BHB spokesperson said: "We can confirm that our chief of staff, Dr Donald Thomas, is currently on administrative leave while a Board review is carried out. We cannot comment any further on individual matters, but interim arrangements are being made to ensure continuity of medical leadership."

Dr Thomas, an American doctor, was appointed chief of staff in 2007, and has more than three decades experience as a healthcare practitioner.
