With notes of loquat, seagrass, neroli and cedar, Lili Bermuda’s latest fragrance is truly a Bermuda creation.Calypso is the first new fragrance in two years by Lili Bermuda, the Island’s exclusive perfume line.It was hand crafted at The Bermuda Perfumery at Stewart Hall, St George’s by owner and perfumer Isabelle Ramsay-Brackstone, whose other scents, including Coral and South Water, have won international acclaim with segments on ‘The View’, ‘The Bachelorette’ and ‘CBS This Morning’.Launched yesterday, Calypso, in signature clear-glass, ribbon-tied bottle, is now available exclusively at The Bermuda Perfumery in St George’s and retail locations Island-wide. Calypso is a unisex scent and a body lotion is also available.According to AS Cooper’s general manager Kathy Rowntree, the Lili Bermuda line does “extremely well” with visitors and locals in their stores Island-wide.There is a big demand overseas as well.A “world-class product that’s made here in Bermuda”, Mrs Ramsay-Brackstone said the Perfumery ships thousands of orders of its fragrances overseas each year. And in keeping with the company’s Bermuda-made philosophy, each online order is filled at The Bermuda Perfumery with a hand tied ribbon and then shipped from the St George’s Post Office (so the package will display Bermuda’s beautiful stamps!)“Calypso is fresh, dynamic and youthful — a fruity fusion of Bermuda scents, part of our unisex Water Collection alongside South Water and Fresh Water,” said Mrs Ramsay-Brackstone.“People who are open-minded, easy-going and passionate about a life of freedom and expression will cherish Calypso. With intrinsically Bermudian scents of loquats, seagrass and neroli, this fragrance is universal, well-suited for spring and summer celebrations like sunset cruises, open air concerts and mostly our beloved Cup Match weekend.”Travel writer Peter Greenberg brought worldwide attention to Lili Bermuda when last year he named The Bermuda Perfumery as the best place in the world to buy perfume in his new book.“We are very pleased to continue our wonderful relationship with a world-class fragrance line,” said Jim Leamy, AS Cooper & Sons vice president and general merchandise manager. “Isabelle is a visionary in the world of fragrance and we are thrilled she chose AS Cooper & Sons as the place to debut Calypso.”Mrs Ramsay-Brackstone added: “Bermuda — its style, its people, its aromas — is the inspiration of Calypso and this is a way to give back to the Island I love.”For buyers overseas, Calypso is now available for purchase online at LiliBermuda.com.There’s a unique buying opportunity for customers who visit the AS Cooper main store today. From 12.30pm to 2pm, Cooper’s will host ‘90 Minutes of Calypso’. Every guest to purchase Calypso during that time will receive a travel size atomiser and a full-sized Calypso body lotion.Calypso cologne, 100 ml, retails for $65.
