Seasoned driver Arthur Hurst was among the top performers in the last round of the 2013 Cablevision Series at Vesey Street.The uncle of Driving Horse and Pony Club (DHPC) president Arnold Manders turned the clock back en route to sweeping both heats in the 1:10/4-1:12/4 time bar with stud Colonel’s J.Hurst was one of only two drivers managing multiple wins on the day.Philip Correia was the remaining driver with multiple wins which he achieved on two separate ponies.Correia won the seventh heat (1:05-1:06) with gelding Nite Dreamer and posted the second fastest time of the day (1:05/1), claiming victory with stud Cherokee’s Superman in the Free For All (1:04/4 & Faster).Thomas Whited had the distinction of posting the day’s fastest time (1:05) with mare Abbey’s Dream on the way to victory in the opening heat of the Free For All.Abbey’s Dream currently holds the track record for a mare (1:03/3) and is the fastest mare in the sport at the moment.Veteran driver David Lopes continued his impressive start to the season, racing another win in the 1:07/2-1:08/2 time bar with gelding Pastor Paul.Last year’s top rookie, Kiwon Waldron, also impressed with a win in the 1:05-1:06 time bar with gelding Down Home Punch.Harness racing continues on Saturday at Bermuda Equestrian Centre.
