QuoVadis rolls out upgrade to cloud computing systems

IT firm QuoVadis data storage requirements have rocketed by 800 percent in just two years, the firm said yesterday.

The news came as QuoVadis announced it has upgraded its cloud computing systems in a bid to provide its customers with high performance data storage.

The firm — a pioneer of cloud computing on the island — has swapped to all solid state drive (SSD) technology, powered by industry leader SolidFire.

QuoVadis Services CEO Gavin Dent said: “With SolidFire, we have turbocharged the performance of the QuoVadis cloud.

“Our customers choose QuoVadis to realise the flexibility, scalability and cost savings advantages of enterprise-class cloud hosting.

“With our all-SSD cloud platform, we’ve removed the bottlenecks of traditional hard disk storage and are the first provider in Bermuda to guarantee quality of service for critical customer applications, completely eliminating variability in storage performance.”

He added: “The new QuoVadis platform allows that huge storage to continue to grow in scale without losing performance.”

The firm said that its ability to provide guaranteed service levels for storage gives it a strategic competitive advantage in the Bermuda and offshore cloud computing marketplace.

It added that the use of SSD technology provided faster speeds than older systems and allowed guaranteed specific storage performance levels by customer and application, as well as cutting down on problems when a single customer or application downgraded performance by monopolising the available systems resources — “noisy neighbour syndrome”.

Mr Dent said: “In just a few years, even the largest Bermuda companies have moved away from internal datacentres to take advantage of the efficiencies of cloud computing.

“At the same time, many of their systems require intensive computing power or include jurisdictionally-sensitive data.

“By choosing the QuoVadis infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) platform they get the high performance and the reliable storage for any business scenario or critical application, right here in Bermuda.”

QuoVadis was founded in 1999, operating its own secure hosting datacentres in Hamilton and has evolved cloud hosting platforms for both local and international businesses for production and business continuity purposes.
