A restaurant chain has linked up with Island cinemas to offer a money-saving dinner and movie package — plus the chance to win a trip to New York.

Island Restaurant Group (IRG) — which owns Victoria Grill in Hamilton and Dockyard’s Frog & Onion — has teamed up with the Liberty Theatre in the city and Neptune Cinema in the west end to offer the deal.

Dinner and a film is on offer for $40 at Victoria Grill and the Liberty, a $10 saving, while the same deal is on offer at the Frog & Onion and Neptune for $32, cutting $8 off the normal price.

And every purchase between January 2 and April 30 will be entered into a prize draw to win a two-night trip to New York, with dinner and a movie in the Big Apple.

IRG president Philip Barnett said: “Partnering with Liberty Theatre and Neptune Cinema is such a natural fit, as not only are we close neighbours with Victoria Grill only a block or so away from Liberty and Frog & Onion just ten feet from Neptune’s front door, but we also think the time is right for great collaboration between Bermudian businesses to bring better value to our shared consumers.”

He added that IRG had come up with the idea after a brainstorming session with a marketing firm.

And Mr Barnett did not rule out further promotions involving other Island businesses in the future.

He said: “We’re looking for any opportunity — the key word is innovative — and just give people a choice and make things a little out of the ordinary.

“We’ve done offers like this before — we’ve partnered with the Gibbons Group and we’re certainly always looking forward to other collaborative ventures.”

He added that IRG had also offered a special meals and theatre deal for the Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s production of South Pacific at City Hall last October.

Mr Barnett said: “We need to stick together as best we can and create better deals for the consumer so they can enjoy themselves and save a little bit of money at the same time.”

Dinner and movie bundles are available only at booking agents ptix.com and there is no limit on the amount of purchases or entries in the NYC prize draw.

Dinners will consist of a main course, followed by a dessert, plus the chosen movie. To enter the draw, name and contact details should be written on the joint ticket and dropped off at boxes in either theatre.
