A young girl who died yesterday after her pedal bike crashed into a pole has been identified by police as 10-year-old Tiffanelle Pitcher-Francis.

A police spokesman said: “Tiffanelle was seriously injured around 6.15pm on Saturday when the pedal cycle she was riding along Tribe Road Number 1 in Southampton apparently collided with a fixed footpath barrier.

“EMTs immediately attended to the unresponsive girl at the scene. Life saving efforts continued as she was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. However, Tiffanelle was later pronounced dead by an on call doctor at 6.45pm.”

The spokesman said the Police Service extends its condolences to the family and friends of Tiffanelle, adding that a Family Liaison Officer had been assigned to her family.

Police are urging anyone with information about the fatal collision, particularly anyone who knew Tiffanelle’s whereabouts before the accident, to contact PC Bianca Glasford at the Roads Police Unit directly on 247-1175, 717-2119 or via the e-mail address bglasford@bps.bm.
