Man found dead in Hamilton Harbour
Police have named the man who was found dead in Hamilton Harbour this morning in waters near the Flag Pole on Front Street.
He was 66 year-old Ian McGavern.
A police spokesman said it appeared that Mr McGavern had fallen from the dock.
He was pulled from the water by police officers and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5.20am.
The spokesman said inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Mr. McGavern’s death were ongoing and anyone who might have information regarding his whereabouts in the hours prior to his death should contact Sergeant Renay Rock on 247-1383.
Police said foul play was not suspected but an autopsy is anticipated.
