Wells in action against QPR

Nahki Wells scored his second goal in as many appearances for Huddersfield Town, but it was not enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat by promotion-chasing Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road today on his full debut in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Bermudian striker, who scored from off the substitutes’ bench in the last minute against Millwall last week, headed in the equaliser in the 68th minute, his seventeenth of the season, with Robert Green, the former England goalkeeper, helpless to do anything about it.

But Wells and Co were outdone by a double from Charlie Austin, the former Burnley striker. Austin put QPR ahead in the 55th minute and struck again with a 79th-minute header from a Benoit Assou-Ekotto corner.

With the crucial three points, Harry Redknapp’s West London squad kept pace with Leicester City, the leaders, who won 1-0 away to Leeds United in the early match. QPR moved into second place after Burnley dropped points in a 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday, while Huddersfield slipped one place to thirteenth.
