Dill confident of finding new overseas team

Terence Dill remains hopeful of fulfilling his dream of playing professional basketball overseas as he continues to patiently wait for teams to come calling.

Dill left the American Basketball Association’s expansion team, Montgomery Blackhawks, early this year because of financial constraints, with the small forward having to pay his own way for away trips.

The former Devonshire Dragons player, who is still based in the United States, is looking for sponsorship to help cover the costs of attending recruitment camps as he bids to return to the court.

“I’m not letting the past get me down,” Dill said. “I have done a lot in the last few years and will continue to focus on my ultimate goal, which is to play professional.

“I left [the Blackhawks] because I didn’t have the funds to continue to play. The support was so minimal, both out here and back home in Bermuda.

“With that being said, I have a few opportunities coming up shortly, and I’m still looking for that help.

“For now, I’m just staying focused on the immediate task at hand.”

Dill, who is keeping fit by working out in the gym and by playing in pick up games, said there had been interest in him from teams in South America, Europe and the Middle East.

“Nothing is concrete or in writing at the moment, but I do have a few looks coming still from both South America and Europe. There are also some Middle Eastern teams that are starting to turn their heads.

“You have to remain optimistic about your goals in life, and I am still positive about the outcome of this.”

Dill, a former co-owner of the Buffalo Warriors of the Premier Basketball League, insisted that his hunger and passion for the game had not diluted despite the roller-coaster ride he has endured.

“I still have loads of hunger and motivation for the game of basketball,” he said. “That is something that will never die inside of me.

“There will be no stopping me until something happens. I’m still out here dominating recreation leagues, so I have to keep going and keep striving.”
