Writs against Bean and Burt formally filed with Supreme Court

A series of writs have been filed in the Supreme Court in connection to allegations of corruption made against Premier Craig Cannonier and two Cabinet Ministers.

The first of the writs, filed yesterday, lists Premier Craig Cannonier as the plaintiff and Shadow Finance Minister David Burt as the defendant.

The second also lists the Premier as the plaintiff, with Opposition Leader Marc Bean named as the defendant.

And the third lists Tourism Minister Shawn Crockwell and Attorney General Mark Pettingill as plaintiffs and Mr Bean as the defendant.

All three writs list Conyers, Dill & Pearman as the law firm filing them.

The Premier announced earlier this week that he would be seeking legal action against Mr Burt and Mr Bean after the MPs launched “reckless allegations” of corruption against him.

Both Mr Burt and Mr Bean made separate allegations of corruption in the House of Assembly in connection with Government’s plan to introduce integrated resort gaming in Bermuda.

They later reiterated their allegations in the broadcast media.
