Dozens of swimmers from Harbour and Sharks swimming clubs set personal-best times at the Best of the Best II swim meet at the BASA pool over the weekend.

With qualification for the Carifta Games complete, those who met the respective grades for the annual spectacle took the weekend as final preparation in their heavy training.

Emma Harvey, Harbour’s rising star, went under 1min 10sec in the 100 metres butterfly, while Peter Kernan and Brittan Moseley continued to improve their times across a wide range of events.

In the highly competitive boys 11-12 boys age group, personal bests by fellow Harbour team-mates Jude Moseley, Nick Brando, Brett Smith and Alex Pilgrim were the feature of the day.

“The Harbour swimmers continued their season with over 130 personal-best swims across the main meet and the development meet,” Stephen Castree, the Harbour coach, said. “As the season comes into full swing and the Carifta, Bermuda National Championships and overseas national championships all approach in the summer months, the team is developing well to have major success.”

Keagan Woolley, from Sharks, is also making rapid improvement in the same age group, with Ben Smith, the Sharks and Bermuda head coach, pleased with the overall progress.

“From a Sharks perspective, we were pleased with the 50 personal-best times that we have achieved and continue to see the progress of many of our young swimmers,” Smith said.

“This meet was also a great opportunity to see many of the Carifta qualifiers compete to gauge the progress that needs to be made from now until the competition starts.”
