Explain the rationale

Heart of the City: The history of Hamilton as a British city began in 1790 when the Bermuda Government set aside 145 acres for it, and was officially incorporated in 1793 by an Act of Parliament. BermudaþÄôs capital relocated to Hamilton from St. George's in 1815 and formally became a city in 1897, ahead of the consecration in 1911 of the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity which was under construction at the time. Dear Sir

This Corporation of Hamilton funding of the Black Mayors Conference is making the One Bermuda Alliance Government look like fools. Every talk show caller and even some of the normal citizens are wondering what on this Earth is going on. How is it possible for an organisation to fund this? If I was a betting man, I’d have to say there’s a rat in this bunch!

But, Mr Editor, the point of my letter is not the Corporation, the point is where is the Minister — Michael Fahy? Is this such a small blip on the financial statement that he thinks nobody cares? Is he simply not interested in explaining this to the voters? Mr Fahy, despite the fact that the OBA is doing a great job implementing very fine reversal strategies, this is a very good example of where you are falling to pieces. You do not communicate with the voters about things they want to know about.

Explain the rationale for allowing this expenditure. Explain why we shouldn’t think that it will end up being twice as much. Why is it being spent on this conference rather than resurfacing streets (I give you Reid Street between Burnaby and Queen — a joke in a civilised country). Why don’t you tell us why these people get away with this in the light of a country that you say is broke. Why don’t we hear from you? The Mayor never has a comment ... surprise, surprise!

I JUST WANT TO UNDERSTAND
