Bermuda Under-14 girls lost their opening tour match in Montreal on Wednesday.

They put up a good fight but ultimately came up short in a 54-45 loss to Dorvall-Jean XXIII Falcons in an exhibition match.

Inshan-nae Smith and Zariah Amory scored nine points each while Demiqua Daniels chipped in with eight.

“They had to adapt to the FIBA rules and regulations not used in Bermuda: ie, trapezoid key, eight second backcourt and the twenty four second shot clock,” Tim Trott, the Bermuda head coach. said.

“The players also had to get used to the pace of the game, which was faster than any basketball they had played in Bermuda.

“A tough loss, but a valuable experience.”

Bermuda were due to face Villa Maria Academy yesterday before taking on Lakeside Academy today.

Tomorrow will see the Islanders participate in a round robin tournament against four club teams.
