A Westgate prisoner has been charged possessing cannabis within the prison walls, an increased penalty zone.

Noet Barnett, 27, denied possessing cannabis on September 15 last year. He is currently imprisoned for attempted murder.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner set trial for June 4.

Barnett is serving a 25 year sentence after leaving Jeremiah Dill with multiple gunshot wounds in 2010, an attack prosecutors believed was motivated by revenge against a rival gang.
