A Bermudian singer is getting his moment in the spotlight this week as he performs on the British version of the hit singing competition The Voice.

Dakari Love, who is based in London, posted on Instagram that he is to appear on the ITV show on Saturday, where he will aim to impress a team of celebrity judges with his singing talent.

Dakari Love, whose real name is Nkosi Hollis, told The Royal Gazette: “It almost feels a bit unreal.

“It has been a year since we filmed it, but when I got the first e-mail and they said they wanted me to audition for them, I was shocked.

“There was a mixture of emotions; nervousness as well. I don’t think a Bermudian has been on The VoiceUK before, so my mind immediately went back home and I knew I had to represent Bermuda in a way.”

Dakari said that music had been a part of his life since he was a child and he was introduced to singing at church.

He said he continued to perform with choirs throughout his youth but it was not until high school that he became serious about pursuing music.

Dakari said: “My teacher, John Woolridge, really encouraged me to believe in myself because I really was a shy kid who was nervous about the spotlight.

“He saw the talent in me and pushed me to keep performing and I have been singing ever since.”

In addition to performing at various gigs, Dakari accompanied the Mista Trick Collective as the lead male vocalist during a tour across Europe in 2024.

He sent in an audition tape for The Voice in 2024 and heard back from them in 2025 about auditioning.

While Dakari is not allowed to discuss the result of the show, he was able to watch the unedited version of his performance and was pleased with the outcome.

The singer said: “This is a really, really proud moment for me and I am really excited for everyone to see the result.”

In addition to continuing to pursue his singing career and releasing new music, Dakari is working as an intern at Bermuda’s London Office. He hopes to use his marketing skills to help provide opportunities for talented Bermudian performers.

He said: “We have so much talent in Bermuda looking to put themselves on the map.

“It’s great that we have that talent but I want to focus on supporting the talent back home.”

Dakari’s episode of The Voice is scheduled to air in Britain on ITV tomorrow at 3pm Bermuda time, with the episode expected to be released on ITV’s YouTube page on Sunday.
