Cann shows there’s life in the old dog

Cann was a two-goal hero for St George's Stallions

A brace from Lionel Cann enabled St George’s Stallions to lift the Masters KO Cup final with a 3-1 win over Young Men’s Social Club.

Jahkio Bolin opened the scoring for Social Club midway through the first half when Shervin Jennings laid a ball off for him to tap home from close range.

Cann equalised for St George’s minutes before the break to leave matters all square at the intermission.

The eventual winner came with 15 minutes remaining from Sinclair Gibbons who put past Tiko Hassell in the Social Club.

Cann grabbed the third and final goal of the match two minutes before the full-time whistle.

BAA Wanderers overcame a two-goal deficit to beat Dandy Town 4-3 and lift the PDL KO Cup in the day’s opening match.

Being down 2-0 courtesy of Daeshun Butterfield and Ryan Tyrell strikes, BAA dug deep to pull the sides level through Joshua DeSilva and Diego McCallan.

DeSilva netted the go-ahead goal for BAA before the eventual winner was scored by LaQuan Thomas. Butterfield popped up with a second for Town, but it was too little, too late.
