Report card on the OBA was needed

June 25, 2014

Dear Sir,

Here’s something I’ve been thinking about.

I think I like the report card idea of the People’s Campaign. Quite frankly, I think I like it a lot, so for the time being, I am going to give my full support to Reverend Tweed and his team.

Furthermore, as part of this support, I’m going to assume that Reverend Tweed and his team are apolitical and that they will carry out their grading fairly and in an unbiased manner.

Actually, such a report card could be just what we need.

The PLP let us down by accruing a mountain of debt that, sadly, may prove to be the final straw for Bermuda. We have a small window of time to address that problem and so we’d better get together as one and figure it out. The PLP do not seem to get this and so, for that reason, they continue to let me down.

They also continue to let me down by the methods they continue to use to garner support, which is basically “divide and conquer” along colour lines. That method works, but it also destroys.

The OBA is letting us down as they just cannot seem to stop putting their collective feet into their collective mouths. They have over-promised and under-delivered on a number of issues, the most recent one being the inexplicable delay in reporting on the infamous Jetgate donation. Don’t they get that the delay in their promised delivery of this information makes it look like they are cooking the books?

And how many contradictory statements can one government make in 18 short months? Does the left hand of the OBA not know what the right hand is doing? Get your act together, OBA, as it just makes you look inept.

I’m fed up with ineptness and in being let down so, please Reverend Tweed, please do not let me down. A report card made by an independent, unbiased, body could go a long way to improving the performance of those folks up on the Hill, those alleged Honourable Members of our alleged Honourable House.
