Many stars under one moon

Kerwin Du Bois

Listening to some of music’s hottest stars while dancing under the stars — that’s the premise for Saturday’s Heineken Full Moon Event at Barr’s Bay Park.

The party, which was last hosted in 2007, is based around the concept of having one moon, yet many stars.

And this year, organisers are confident they won’t disappoint — by bringing Trinidadian soca artist Kerwin Du Bois to our shores.

Known for hits like 2012’s popular Carnival anthem ‘Bacchanalist’, Mr Du Bois is considered a powerhouse talent and often praised for bringing soca music to the world.

Before he takes the stage, well-known local DJs: New Era, D’General and Rusty G, will be warming up the crowd by spinning a mix of pop, house, hip hop, R & B, reggae — and of course soca music.

According to organiser Jason (D’General) Sukdeo, the event is looking to bring a party vibe that people haven’t seen on the Island before.

“The DJ line up brings outstanding talents both local and international,” he said. “Locally, New Era, DJ Rusty G & D’General will bring a good mix of music in various genres. While international DJs Crown Prince from Dubai and Barrie Hype from Miami will bring a flavour that isn’t common in Bermuda, but is sure to bring the event to the next level.”

The DJs can be heard on VIBE 103FM’s Friday Bounce Mix Show from 7pm to 8pm.

Mr Sukdeo said what sets these DJs apart is they often bring new remixes and beats to everyone’s favourite tunes — and are sure to set the scene for Mr du Bois.

Currently the reigning International Groovy Soca Monarch Champion for 2014, Mr Du Bois worked to dethrone last year’s soca monarch, Machel Montano.

His current chart topper ‘Too Real’ is expected to be a definite hit for 2014.

“This along with other hits like ‘Monster Winer’, ‘Bacchanalist’, ‘I Am Soca’, ‘Baddist’, ‘Backazz’, ‘Spoil Mehself’ and much, much more, Kerwin is sure to put on a great show,” the organiser said.

If that’s not enough to ensure a great party atmosphere, VIP ticket holders will be treated to a two-hour cruise on-board the UberVida, kicking off at 8pm.

They will be treated like celebrities in their own right while on board the yacht, which will later be parked at Barr’s Bay Park so they can enjoy the celebration.

Mr Sukdeo said VIP tickets proved to be extremely hot commodities and sold out in a matter of days. The lucky patrons will have the benefit of an open bar during the cruise, including free drinks from premium alcohol brands like Johnnie Walker Gold, Ron Zacapa Rum, Grey Goose vodka — and event sponsors, Heineken.

All in all, he said it should be a priority event for everyone’s calendar this weekend. “It features world class entertainment with world class brands at a world class venue for a world class crowd,” he said.

“The event will also be the official after party for both the City Fashion Festival and the Bermuda Big Game Fishing Classic.

“We look forward to providing quality entertainment for both our visiting guests and the residents of Bermuda!”
