The second part to the Bermuda Tourism Authority’s ‘Lunch and Learn’ series will be held next week Wednesday, July 16.

Designed to help prospective entrepreneurs boost tourism and win a share of a $1 million pot of cash, the Tourism Authority launched the series of lunches after it called for submissions for its new Tourism Experiences Investment scheme earlier this year. Out of more than 130 applications a total of 33 cultural and sporting events got cash support from the BTA to help them attract visitors to the Island. The first seminar, which was described as “wildly popular”, was “extremely valuable for both the participants and the BTA,” said BTA Special Projects intern, Kyle James.

“The series has served as a conduit for product development and has also provided an important link between the BTA and innovative entrepreneurs who represent an important component to Bermuda tourism’s future success.”

He added: “Our partnership with the BEDC (Bermuda Economic Development Corporation) has bode well for the overall success and popularity of the series.”

The Lunch and Learns are geared to individuals with ideas for tourism products and experiences in need of additional tips and added business advice to bring their business ideas to life.

Each session focuses on a new topic and is independent of all others. Individuals that missed any session in the first series can attend that session in the July instalment.

The five sessions cover:

• Bermuda’s visitors — understanding expectations and experiences

• creating a business plan

• the power of partnership

• the laws of attraction

• the value of experience
