Man denies assault

A Southampton man pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Forty one year-old Andrew Scaife, of Garden Path, assaulted and did actual bodily harm to Amanda Scaife on June 19 in Paget, said prosecutor Garrett Byrne.

Mr Scaife said he was “definitely not guilty” when pleading to the charges.

Ordering Mr Scaife to stay away from the complainant, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released him on $2,000 bail. He will be tried on November 6.

• A 32-year-old man has denied charges he forged and attempted to cash a winning betting slip at Sea Horses betting shop.

John Samuels, 32, of no fixed abode, forged a betting slip and attempted to dishonestly obtain more than $3,500 from the bookmakers on July 23, prosecutor Garrett Byrne told the court.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Samuels on $1,000 bail with one surety, ordering him to appear for trial on October 3.

• A St George’s man was released on $5,000 bail after being charged with possession and intent to supply heroin in Sandys on June 13 last year.

Abdul Ebbin, 46, of Cove Valley, denied the charge.

Mr Warner released him on bail with one surety. He will be tried on October 31.
