Man accused of attempting to kill his stepson

A Warwick man has been charged with attempting to murder his stepson.

Raphael Douglas, 51, of Rings Court, was also charged with unlawfully wounding his stepson, Jerome Thomas, during an altercation between the two on July 22, prosecutor Garrett Bryne told Magistrates’ Court this morning.

It is alleged that Mr Douglas stabbed Mr Thomas multiple times with a knife.

Mr Douglas, represented by lawyer Charles Richardson, was not required to enter a plea as the case will go to a jury trial in Supreme Court.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Douglas on $5,000 bail with one surety.

Mr Douglas will next appear in court on August 7.
