A humble Bascome conveys his thoughts in a post-match interview after Bermuda's 4-0 win over the host side

Andrew Bascome, the national team coach, will be hoping for a similar performance tonight when Bermuda take on Puerto Rico in their second group four match in the Caribbean Under-17 Championship qualifiers in Bahamas.

The Bermuda youngsters thrashed the hosts 4-0 on Wednesday night with left back Jerome Bailey scoring twice, midfielder Osagi Bascome scoring the third from the penalty spot and Kacy Butterfield closing out the scoring from a free kick in second-half stoppage time.

“The team was organised, defensively they were compact and kept each block tight,” said Bascome, who will warn his players that there is still much work to do in the group.

“For the first 25 minutes, we kept a low line as we were not aware of the opposition. Once we had gauged the quality of the opposition, we switched to high pressure and began to win more balls in their half of the field. The goals were a result of executing this game plan.”

Bermuda will play Puerto Rico in the opening match at Roscow R L Davies Stadium at 6pm Bermuda time, to be followed at 8.30 by Bahamas against Martinique.
