A teenage motorbike rider was last night fighting for his life after his bike hit a wall.

The 18-year-old man, who has not been named, was travelling east on Middle Road, Southampton, near its junction with Granaway Heights Road when he lost control and hit a wall. The unconscious man was rushed by ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A police spokesman said: “He was taken to hospital with what are being described as life-threatening injuries.”

The accident happened around 7.40pm.
