Sandys crash leaves motorcyclist in ‘potentially serious’ condition

A motorcyclist is reported to be in a “potentially serious” condition at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital overnight after crashing into a car while attempting to overtake.

The Bermuda Police Service said the incident occurred approaching midnight on Somerset Road in Sandys, near the junction with Gilbert Lane.

“Initial information suggests that both vehicles were travelling in an easterly direction when the driver of the motor car attempted to turn on to Gilbert Lane,” a police spokeswoman said. “At the same time, the motorcycle rider reportedly attempted to overtake the car.”

She added: “The motorcycle rider sustained potentially serious injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car is not reported to have been injured.”
