Footy Force crowned Silver champions

Bermuda’s Footy Force won the Silver Division in the under-15 age group at the World Futsal Championship in Orlando, Florida, at the weekend.

They defeated Legends, of California, 7-2 in the final thanks to two goals each from Diego Richardson and Colin Zuill, and solo strikes from Travis Boyles, Knory Scott and Malachi Davis-Salaam.

In the semi-finals, Force defeated Centurions 6-5 courtesy of braces from Travis Boyles and Knory Scott. Diego Richardson and Jaheim Iris had the other goals.

The team were put into the consolation division after finishing bottom of group A.

Vinzie Zuill, the president of Footy Force Futsal Academy, said: “We are delighted to participate in our first international tournament and return home with silverware.

“The team made a slow start in the tournament but the way in which they came together in the knockout stages was truly incredible.

“It was a great experience for the players and coaches. As an academy team representing Bermuda, we were well received by the tournament host and participating teams.”
