Identify what’s critical when faced with a deadline

Deadlines. These targets can often be a challenge. They can be imposed, either by yourself or someone else, and this often creates a sense of urgency that increases stress and forces you to sometime compromise what might be your best effort.

It is important, when this does happen, to ensure that you identify the most critical goals and complete these if at all possible. We had a great example of an imposed deadline on Sunday evening when the PGA final holes were basically played in the dark so that the tournament could be completed.

The players worked to maintain the same level of intensity and focus that they had during the round and gave us an exciting last hole. When you are faced with deadlines, as opposed to targets that allow the time to get it done, work to get the critical completed so that effective progress is achieved.
