Wells set to take on Forest

Wells's Huddersfield have been drawn against Nottingham Forest in the second-round of the Capital One Cup

Nahki Wells and Huddersfield Town will look to clear the next hurdle when they host Sky Bet Championship rivals Nottingham Forest in the second round of the Capital One Cup at John Smith’s Stadium on August 25th.

Huddersfield advanced from the first round after coming from behind to beat League One side Chesterfield 5-3 in extra time, with Wells bagging a maiden hat-trick for the Yorkshire club.

Forest advanced after squeaking past Sky Bet League Two side Tranmere Rovers 1-0.

Huddersfield and Forest, the two-times European Cup winners, have not met in the Capital One Cup since the 1989/90 campaign. On that occasion then cup holders Forest prevailed in the two-legged second round clash and went on to successfully defend their title courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Oldham Athletic in the final.

Wells has enjoyed some of his finest moments of his burgeoning professional football career in the Capital One Cup.

He was a member of Bradford City’s squad that became the first fourth tier side in English football’s pecking order to appear in a major domestic cup final in 51 years after reaching the Capital One Cup final during the 2012/13 season.

Wells was ultimates denied a winner’s medal after Bradford were thrashed 5-0 by Barclays Premier League side Swansea City. It was the widest margin of defeat in the final, surpassing Manchester United’s 4-0 drubbing of Wigan in 2006.
