Micah Franklin closed out his individual bid in the Senior Caribbean Squash Championships in Barbados with a fifth-place finish yesterday.

The Bermuda No 1 was awarded a victory after a withdrawal of Alex Arjoon, of Guyana, in the fifth place game, giving him the best possible finish following his quarter-final loss to eventual champion Chris Binnie of Jamaica.

Rachel Barnes came fifth overall in the women’s division by defeating Amanda Haywood, of Barbados, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-7.

Earlier, Barnes defeated fellow Bermudian Susie Lacey 11-2, 11-9, 11-9 in the women’s plate quarter-final.

Bermuda’s players return to action tomorrow with the team event.
