Classic casino is a sure-bet fundraiser

Doing good around the world: A Raleigh Bermuda group

Cup Match might be over, but it’s not too late to play Crown and Anchor.

The game will be one of several classic gambling games to be played at Raleigh Bermuda’s Second Annual Monte Carlo Casino Classic Fundraiser.

Last year, the event raised $15,000 for youth charity Raleigh Bermuda, and organisers are hoping they’ll hit the jackpot again.

“The event was the vision of our former executive director, Kristin White,” said Raleigh executive director Tina Nash, who took over from Ms White last November. “I felt like it was a good idea to have another Casino Classic as it is different from other charity fundraisers and we received a lot of positive feedback from the community following the first event. I have an organising committee made up of very enthusiastic alumni and friends of Raleigh, so we expect it to be another huge success.”

All of the funds raised from the event will go towards supporting Raleigh’s programmes and operating costs. Raleigh Bermuda sends young people on empowering volunteer projects and treks in foreign countries.

“Although we do have a minimum fundraising goal for our young Bermudians in our programmes, Raleigh Bermuda does cover all of the costs associated with their involvement in both our local programmes, as well as the costs of them participating in the Raleigh International expeditions overseas in either Tanzania, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Borneo,” Miss Nash said.

She said it would be a fun and social event with a silent auction and great prizes.

“We are excited to have some outstanding prizes on offer thanks to our generous donors,” said Ms Nash. “There are only 300 tickets available, so don’t delay if you want to play.”

The casino night, which will include games such as roulette, craps and blackjack, and, of course, Crown and Anchor, will be held on September 13 on the Pier 6 Terrace on Front Street in Hamilton.

Tickets are $100 and include food, two drink tickets and casino chips, available at www.ptix.bm and at Flowers By GiMi at 37 Front Street. For more details, see their Facebook event page at: www.facebook.com/events/328329487317940 or call 333-5678 or e-mail info@raleigh.bm.
