Traffic delays after cars collide

A collision between two cars in Paget caused traffic delays on Sunday afternoon, but no life-threatening injuries.

According to a Police spokesman, the collision occurred at around 3.50pm, near the junction with Harbour Road and Lovers Lane.

“It appears that two cars were being driven along Harbour Road when the vehicles collided,” the spokesman said. “The drivers, a 46-year-old female and a 52-year-old male both from Sandys parish, were injured and subsequently treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

“Apparently their injuries are not serious. There were no other injuries reported.”

As a result of the collision, traffic diversions were put in place at Chapel Road, Stowe Hill and the north roundabout off Crow Lane, however the road was reopened to traffic around three hours later.

The accident was not the only one reported on Sunday, according to police. At around 4am that day emergency services responded to a report of a single vehicle collision near the junction of North Shore Road and Studio Lane in Hamilton Parish.

Police said that it appears a 30-year-old Hamilton Parish man was riding along North Shore Road when he collided with a wall. He was taken to hospital and, as of yesterday afternoon, remained in stable condition.

Anyone with information about the Hamilton Parish crash is urged to contact PC Darren Marcano at the Southside Police Station on 293-2222, while those who many have witnessed the Paget crash are asked to contact PC Kidane Collins at the Hamilton Police Station on 247-1704.
