Swearing lands man in court

A Warwick man will go on trial accused of using offensive words in a public place during Cup Match.

Mark Simons, 49, is alleged to have shouted expletives at Patrick Wade in the car park of Somerset Cricket Club on the second day of the cricket classic — Friday, August 1.

According to prosecutors, Mr Simons told Mr Wade: “Your wife is nothing but a b**** and a whore. I will chop you down to your knees. F*** you.”

Mr Simons pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning. Magistrate Juan Wolffe granted Mr Simons bail but ordered the accused not to have any contact with the complainant or any prosecution witnesses.

Mr Simons will go on trial on October 19.
