Harris gets a tune out of Brona’s Mike

Harness racing at Vesey Street

Brona’s Mike lowered the season’s best time, while Colonel’s Maestro, A Touch Of Red and Custard The Dragon all moved up a time bar during weekend harness racing at Bermuda Equestrian Centre.

With Cameron Harris in the sulky, Brona’s Mike posted 1:04 flat in heat 24, shaving two fifths of a second off the previous season’s fastest time achieved eight days earlier by Andrea Westerfield.

Colonel’s Maestro moved out of the 1:08/3-1:10/3 time bar after returning a 1:07/2 in heat six and a 1:06/2 in heat 12 with Lucas Bridges at the helm.

Custard The Dragon, with Andy Stoneham in the bike, and A Touch of Red, helmed by Keira Whited, both advanced from the 1:10/4-1:12/4 time bar.

Aaron Sims’s mare, Skyway Majestic, got a leg out of the 1:07/2-1:08/2 time bar after posting 1:06 in heat 20 with female driver Kirista Rabain.

Getting a leg out of the 1:10/4-1:12/4 time bar was Shady’s Liberty with Christian Truran in the bike.

Whited, Bridges, Harris, Kiwon Waldron and Eusebio Mills were all among the day’s multiple heat winners.

Harness racing resumes at the Vesey Street racetrack on Friday with round two of the Bermuda CableVision Friday Night Series, when the top three drivers in each heat receive cash earnings.
