A venture to make Bermuda optimistic

At your service: Larry Perinchief, owner of the Soccer and Friends restaurant

September 26, 2014

Dear Sir:

I want to comment on the story you ran in your Thursday, September 25 edition about Mr Larry Perinchief’s fantastic new restaurant in St. George’s, Soccer and Friends.

It is the kind of venture that should give Bermudians reasons to feel real optimism that our Island’s best days are ahead of us.

Mr Perinchief’s undertaking represents faith and confidence in Bermuda and its people on many levels – in the skills and experience of its management team of Ronald and Judy Wilson, who ran Black Horse in St David’s; in his partnership with Mr Gerald Pascoe, in the appeal of traditional Bermudian seafood cuisine to visitors and locals alike, and in the enduring attraction of the Old Town.

I also want to commend Mr. Perinchief for his entrepreneurial spirit in looking for a “new challenge”, his careful decision to take the risk of opening a restaurant in a challenging business climate, and to do so as a memorial to his mother, Lois Perinchief, former mayor of The Old Town.

It is an initiative that is all about Bermudian heritage, Bermudian character and Bermudian know-how. It is the kind of action that will help lift Bermuda to better days. And it says to me that by building on who we are we give ourselves the best chance to build the strongest future.

Well done Mr Perinchief!

Sincerely,

MICHAEL DUNKLEY
