A course on charting and developing fundraising plans is on offer from the Bermuda chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), to begin later this month.

The skills and leadership development programme is open to two local fundraisers, the group announced yesterday in a statement. The courses are to be issued under the direction of Sharilyn Hale from the Canadian group Watermark Philanthropic Advising.

Ms Hale, who founded the consultancy, has offered training in Bermuda’s charitable sector over the course of two decades.

The course is open to AFP members with up to five years’ experience who are currently working full-time within a local charity, and responsible for overseeing fundraising.

The programme, which includes direct coaching as well as Skype counselling, runs from October 15 to March 15.

Details are available by October 6, from AFP Bermuda’s Gordon Johnson, at Gordon.robert.johnson@gmail.com.

The organisation has also announced that two scholarships are available to cover tuition and travel costs to the 2015 AFP International Fundraising Conference, which will be held in Baltimore.

Applications for the Chamberlain Scholarship may be sent to Jennifer Burland Adams, at jburlandadams@bhs.bm.
