North Village Rams made a flying start to the Corona League season with a 4-0 victory over Lobster Pot at Goose Gosling Field on Friday night.

Village, whose team included former Bermuda players Aljame Zuill and Kofi Dill, sent out an ominous warning to the rest of the league with a strong performance against Pot.

Jahvon Washington bagged a brace with Zuill and Tafari Outerbridge also finding the net.

In Friday’s other match, Robin Hood made a winning start to the season with a 1-0 victory over West End United. Martin Brown scored the only goal of the game.

Flanagan’s Onions also enjoyed a three-point haul with a 4-1 win over BAA Wanderers on Saturday.

BAA took the lead in the first half through Dean Jones who burst through the Onions defence before supplying a neat finish.

Onions found an equaliser just before half-time when Andy Forster headed home after excellent work by Kyle Ferreira on the wing.

After the break, Onions took the lead through a fine strike from Keith Szmeirek.

The former Onions Premier Division player scored his second from the penalty spot after Stewart Forster had been pulled down. Forster then added his name to the scoresheet with a close-range finish.

Tuff Dogs, the defending champions, won 2-0 against B&V United, the league’s newest team, with goals from Ryan Minors and Aaron Brown.

Lock N Key also picked up three points on the opening weekend with a 2-0 win over Vasco. Lock N Key’s scorers were Dion Stovell, the Bermuda cricketer, and Marvin Belboda.
