Bean emerges to claim September prize

After almost two weeks on the run, Blenn Bean turned himself in yesterday to the RG Fantasy League police.

His excuse for not claiming his $100 gift voucher as our winner for the month of September was a pitiful one, but we decided to allow him to walk away with it all the same.

Bean, a former Bermuda and PHC defender, could be forgiven for being taken aback by his sudden fortune, given that he was a distance behind the monthly front-runners heading into what proved to be a tricky gameweek six. However, while all around him floundered, Buddyroe’s Guns managed 52 points to carry Bean to 185 for the month and success by one point from Jason Simons’s No F In Chance, which proved to be correct in the end.

A further point behind were Eddie Furbert’s Elite FC and Bit of a Longshot, managed by someone calling himself Alex Me, were fourth on 181. Muhsin Nasir, the overall leader with Goon Squad, was joint fifth with Michael Furbert and ZaZyShi.

Bean, who won the Bermuda Sun grand prize two years ago, says he is doing it for a bit of fun this time and he may be right, having already used up his wildcard to hijack the September winnings. “Not a good strategy for the long haul,” he said. “But I’m still gunning for the leader.”

Guns chasing after Goons. Seems rather appropriate.
