Christmas may be a few months off yet but the town of St George’s is gearing up for a winter of fun and festivities.

The Olde Towne has rolled out a series of events starting this evening, through the winter until New Year’s Day.

The schedule of entertainment has been arranged by Deputy Mayor, Quinnell Francis, and the town’s Activities Committee.

The festivities begin tonight with a Karaoke Night between 8pm and 11pm in King Square. Then, on October 20 the Connecticut-based Colchester Fife and Drum Corps will be in the Square.

To mark Halloween there will be a ‘Spooky Night in Ghost Town’ event in the town on October 25.

While the Christmas season will begin with the Bermuda National Trust Walkabout on December 5, and will be followed by Santa Comes to Town on December 13.

St George’s will also be hosting a New Year’s Eve part in the Square.

“A lot of work has gone into organising the schedule for events by the Deputy Mayor and the Activities Committee,” Mayor Garth Rothwell said.

“It is all part of the Corporation’s ongoing efforts to revitalise the town and to provide some fun and entertainment to both our residents and our visitors.

“I hope everyone turns out and makes the most of the events that St George’s is hosting for the rest of this year.”
