Butterfield hits $2 mark

Butterfield Bank shares climbed to the $2 mark as three companies advanced in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading today.

The bank gained one cent, or 0.5 percent, as 128,993 shares traded.

The largest climber was Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd, which gained 30 cents, or 3.4 percent, on the trading of 300 shares.

Watlington Waterworks Ltd also gained 35 cents, or 2.1 percent, to close on $16.85, as 306 of its shares changed hands.

The one local stock to fall yesterday was insurer BF&M Ltd, which slipped five cents, or 0.3 percent, to close on $18, as 2,000 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 5.04 points, or 0.37 percent, to close the day at 1,381.78.

Volume totalled 138,599 shares, while turnover clocked up to $328,847.74.
