Belco enter home stretch in power restoration

Power restoration enters the final stretch for Belco, which started today with just 89 customers still in the dark.

“Crews are continuing to work tonight, so we do expect this number to improve by morning,” a Belco spokeswoman said. “We are grateful to all of the customers who are just having power restored at this stage for your continued patience, and for the continued support that you are showing to our crews in the field.”

As of this afternoon there were no reported outages in Hamilton Parish, while Smiths is parish most effected, with 31 customers without electricity. 21 customers remain in the dark in Warwick, and 16 in Devonshire.

Only small number of customers remain without power in Pembroke, Paget, Southampton, Sandys and St George’s, with less than ten customers without power in each parish.

Those still without power are urged to report the outages to Belco by calling the company’s automated system at 955.

“If you cannot leave an automated message, please speak to the Operator,” the spokeswoman said. “We are doing this to ensure that we have captured all individual outages in our Outage Management System.”

Belco expressed its appreciation for the patience and cooperation of customers left without power after the two storms that hit the Island this month.

She added: “We are especially grateful for the support shown to our crews, including the Caribbean Electric Utility Service Corporation (CARILEC) crews who continue working through long days and nights to restore power Island-wide.”
