Rai Simons, the Bermuda striker, could be in line for a recall to Ilkeston’s first-team squad after scoring a brace for their under-21 side on Thursday night.

Simons helped the under-21s to an 8-0 victory away to Buxton in the HKL North Midlands Football League, scoring either side of half-time.

Playing in goal for the under-21s was Simons’s Bermuda Under-20 team-mate Jahquil Hill.

Hill recently trained with Sky Bet League One side Barnsley, having previously been at League Two team Mansfield Town as a development player.

Simons was substituted in the second half against Buxton, suggesting he could feature in manager Kevin Wilson’s plans for today’s visit to St Neots Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy.

The 18-year-old has yet to play for Ilkeston’s first team this season,

Two other Bermudians likely to be in action in the FA Trophy, which is open to clubs playing in the fifth to eighth tiers of the English game, are Taurean Manders in Sholing’s home match against Tiverton Town, and Tahj Bell in Hitchen Town’s trip to Burnham.

Nahki Wells, the Huddersfield Town striker, will be looking to continue his scoring form when his team face Nottingham Forest in the Sky Bet Championship today.

Wells bagged a brace to help earn Huddersfield a 2-2 draw away to Ipswich Town last weekend in his first start in three matches.

Reggie Lambe, the Mansfield midfielder, will hope to be involved in his side’s home match against Southend United, having started the last few games on the bench.

Freddy Hall is expected to be in goal for Telford United in their Vanarama Premier match away to Bristol Rovers, and Roger Lee’s Weston-super-Mare are away to Concord Rangers in the Conference South.
