Trials set for Front Street Mile

Trials for the Front Street Mile will take place later this month

KPMG are working with the Bermuda National Athletics Association (BNAA) to hold another trial event for the KPMG Front Street Mile

As part of KPMG’s ongoing commitment to the community, KPMG will continue to work with the BNAA to bring KPMG’s core values to life.

In addition to financial contribution, KPMG will continue to provide support to the KPMG Front Street Mile and the upcoming associated race trials.

In preparation of next year’s KPMG Front Street Mile, formally known as the KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile, the BNAA will hold their annual trial event on Friday, November 28 at the National Sports Centre.

The event is for multiple age groups ranging from primary school to seniors. In order to compete in this international competition, running enthusiasts and elitists must qualify for a place.

Similar to previous years, the fastest 20 runners under eight minutes will be invited to participate in the KPMG Front Street Mile on Friday, January 16.

Mike Charles, the race director, said that because of the many requests from runners who miss the trials because of travel obligations, concessions may be granted if the athlete can produce evidence of travel and dates of reservation.

Local athletes living overseas may be considered if they submit official results of competition in distances from 800m through 3000m.

Neil Patterson, the chairman of KPMG in Bermuda, said: “KPMG in Bermuda is excited to again host the trial as an avenue for local athletes to earn a spot in the KPMG Front Street Mile — one of the Island’s most important running events.

“The initiative continues to be a huge success for the Bermuda athletic community, and KPMG is proud to support the Bermuda National Athletics Association in delivering this high-calibre event.”

All applicants can register online at www.racedayworld.com or collect their entry form from Sportseller in the Washington Mall.

Entry forms are also available at local schools across the Island. Paper entries must be dropped off at Sportseller no later than 4.30pm on Friday, November 21, with online registration closing on Wednesday, November 26. Late entries will not be accepted. Registration fee is $8 for students and $15 for adults.
