Seminar to offer tips on tracking down overseas assets

A fraud investigation and asset recovery firm is to hold a seminar for Bermuda residents and businesses to help track down unclaimed assets outside the Island.

Bermuda-based KRyS Global has joined forces with Caymans-based AssetMine Global for the seminar, which will feature asset recovery specialists.

A spokesman for KRyS Global said: “Unclaimed property is the term given to financial assets that have not been collected by their owners after a legally-defined period of time.

“These assets could be in the form of dormant bank accounts, tax refunds, undeposited stock, uncashed cheques, insurance policies, pension monies, brokerage accounts and inheritances.”

The spokesman added that many governments around the world could eventually take over unclaimed assets.

He added: “AssetMine collects owner information from these governments and other sources around the world in an effort to reconnect them with their property. Some governments do not disclose the amount of assets held which remain hidden until the legal owner makes a claim.”

He added that some Bermuda residents will already have been notified by KRyS Global regarding assets found to belong to them and said they should attend the seminar to learn more.

The event will be held on Tuesday, November 25, at the C&W Room at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute between 12.30pm-1pm. To register, visit www.krys-global.com/services/assetmine or call KRyS Global on 292 0818 or e-mail claims@assetmine.ky.
