Full 90: Lambe

Reggie Lambe got a rare opportunity to start for Mansfield Town on Saturday, helping the Sky Bet League Two side end a run of nine matches without a win one day after manager Paul Cox quit his job.

Lambe has found opportunities limited since joining the club, but the departure of Cox on Friday changed his and the club’s fortunes as they beat Plymouth 1-0 to climb to seventeenth in the table.

Aygyle arrived at Mansfield sporting the division meanest defence, unbeaten in seven league games.

However, Adam Murray, Mansfield’s caretaker manager, chose a bold, attacking line-up that included the 23-year-old Bermuda.

The gamble paid dividends just before the break when Vadaine Oliver, a loan player from Crewe, netted his first goal for the club.

Amid an electric atmosphere, Mansfield played the ball around well in the first half and Rob Taylor, Vadaine Oliver and Lambe all went close, with goalkeeper Luke McCormick diving to his right to save a deflected Lambe shot two minutes before half-time.

Lambe played the whole match, collecting a booking in the second half injury time for a foul.
