Colts halt Blazers winning streak

Lozendro Symonds, left, who was on target for Devonshire Colts

Devonshire Colts threw the First Division promotion race wide open after handing leaders Boulevard their first loss of the season.

Colts won 2-1 at Police Field, ending Boulevard’s five-game winning streak in the league, with Kyle Jones and Lozendro Symonds scoring for Colts, who remain unbeaten and are now just a point behind joint leaders Boulevard and Wolves.

Tiae-Vince Douglas replied for the Blazers with his ninth goal of the season.

Shacoi Daniels’s late winner earned Wolves maximum points in their evenly-fought encounter with Ireland Island Rangers at Devonshire Recreation Club.

The home side took the lead in the 27th minute after Sergio Richardson’s free kick from outside of the box got up and under.

But Rangers were back on even terms when Jonathan Bean converted from close range after Wolves lost possession deep in their own half.

Just when it seemed as though both teams would have to settle for a share of the spoils, Daniels drilled a low shot inside the near post in the 85th minute to cap off a well-executed counter attack.

X-Roads moved up to fourth in the table, four points behind the leaders, with a 2-1 win over Young Men’s Social Club at Garrison Field. Tristan Daniels and Ricky Saltus scored in each half for the home side.

BAA Wanderers moved off the bottom with a 2-0 win over Somerset Eagles, their first win of the season. Jair Minors scored early in the second half and Josh DeSilva made certain of the victory with a late second goal for the home team.

St David’s Warriors beat Paget Lions 3-1 at Southampton Oval where cousins Chris Douglas and Allan Douglas Jr got on the scoresheet for the visiting side, who took the lead in the 34th minute through Fiqre Crockwell.

Jahmori Beach equalised for Paget in the 55th minute before Chris Douglas restored St David’s lead in the 61st and Allan Douglas cushioned the lead in the 70th with his sixth goal of the season.
