Rangers pair get funding boost

Talented duo: Rangers presented Clemens, left, and Brangman, right, with scholarship funds

Southampton Rangers have made an investment in two of their promising youngsters by handing funds to college pair Donte Brangman and Willie Clemens as part of their Future Leaders Scholarship programme.

The two midfielders, who played their last match for the club in last Sunday’s 2-2 draw at home to Robin Hood before heading back to school, were each presented with cheques for $750 by Gerri Saltus, the Rangers president, prior to the start of the match.

“At Southampton Rangers we have been evolving,” Saltus said. “Our mission is to become the hub of the community and to use sports as a tool to produce productive citizens.

“Today marks a special day for us as we present two young men with the first-ever Southampton Rangers Future Leaders Scholarship. These young men have shown tremendous talent both on and off the field and we would like to show our support to their development with this scholarship. This is the start of many initiatives that will allow us to cement our position as a better community outlet.”

Brangman attends East Tennessee State University and is studying Exercise Science while Clemens is at Thomas College in Maine where he is studying Sports Management.
