Gale-force warning in effect this weekend

Windy weather is expected to strike the Island late today, according to the Bermuda Weather Service.

Yesterday afternoon the service issued a gale warning for the Island, set to come into effect late today, citing a deep low expected to move up the United States East Coast.

The public forecast said: “A cold front also moves across the area Saturday night with showers and possible thunder, followed by improvement during Sunday. Another deep low brings more wind and rain late Monday.”

Small-craft warnings will also be in effect from tomorrow afternoon into the evening, while a separate small-craft warning will be in effect on Sunday. In the US, a fast-moving coastal storm is forecast to blast several major cities in the Northeast with a mix of snow, sleet and rain.
