Annual charity fun walk announced

Argus CEO Alison Hill

A sixth annual charity fun walk is coming up on February 22, courtesy of the Argus Group and the Centre on Philanthropy.

Argus Walks the Walk with The Centre on Philanthropy 5K allows participants to choose their favourite local registered charity to receive a portion of their entry fee. Last year, 1,100 participants walked, raising a total of $28,940 in support of 118 charities.

The event begins with an 8.15am warm-up, followed by the start of the walk at 8.30am, beginning and finishing in front of the Argus and The Centre on Philanthropy offices, on Wesley Street, Hamilton.

Registration is available online at www.racedayworld.com, or walkers can register in person at The Centre on Philanthropy at Sterling House, 16 Wesley Street, Hamilton. The deadline is 4pm on February 20.

The first 1,200 registrants will receive a free Argus Walks the Walk with The Centre on Philanthropy T-shirt which can be collected from the Argus Building between 10am and 2pm on February 21.

The entry fee is $25, of which $20 will be donated to the registered charity selected by the participant. The remaining $5 will support www.VOLUNTEER.bm, The Centre on Philanthropy’s online resource for volunteering. Participants are encouraged to enter as part of a team, which allows groups to walk together for the same charity.

Prizes will be awarded to the largest corporate, youth and non-profit teams, as well as to the team with the best coordinated outfits, the best choreography and the best cheer, immediately after the walk.
