Plans to move Rustico restaurant

New look: The plans for the new Rustico restaurant, as published on Facebook

Award-winning restaurant Rustico is on the move.

The long-established Italian favourite is to shift from its current location in Flatts Village to a new site at the nearby Brightside guest apartments.

Rustico said the new restaurant, slated to open at the start of next year, would offer better views over Flatts Inlet — unobscured by the village gas station — as well as an outdoor dining area and parking on site.

The news was posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page at the weekend, complete with an architectural drawing of the proposed floor plan for the new-look Rustico, which is likely to be slightly bigger than its current home.

Rustico is the senior member of the Dining Bermuda chain, which also includes Gulfstream, housed in the former Tio Pepe on South Shore Road, and The Dining Room at Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, both Southampton.

Dining Bermuda owner Odilio Angeli did not return calls from The Royal Gazette yesterday.

The group also ran the Flying Fish on Pitts Bay Road, Pembroke, which closed last year.
